Why Is This Needed?

Historically, powering down LED displays, especially through hard shutdowns (like flipping the switch), has been discouraged due to technical risks. Internal components such as power supplies and drivers are particularly sensitive to inrush current—a sudden surge of electrical energy that occurs when power is restored. This surge can cause wear and tear or even failure of these critical components over time.

Additionally, frequent power cycling can lead to thermal stress as the components rapidly heat up and cool down, shortening their lifespan. For these reasons, it’s been common practice to leave LED displays powered on continuously, even when not in use, often displaying a blank screen.
